Canberra to Kosciuszko via the Snowy Hydro scheme, taking in the dams, power stations, pumping stations, etc. Roughly a 450KM day from Wee Jasper. Intent is for everyone to meet at “Benny’s Busted Battery Corner” (opposite Wee Jasper Public School) at 0830. Then head into Tumut for brunch; from the Wee Jasper meeting point to Tumut, is approx 50KM of dirt.
From there:
Finishing the day in Jindabyne, staying at Alpine Gables.
Thredbo out to Charlottes Pass to start the morning, finishing the Snowy Hydro scheme showcase:
Brunch in Jindabyne before heading down to Lakes Entrance.
Two options here:
Staying at Lakeside Waterfront Hotel.
Lakes Entrance to the Yarra Ranges
Approx. 400KMs total for the day, much twisties!
Finishing at Warburton - The Alpine Retreat
Short(er) run to Adrian’s place, around the loop and down the fabled twisties of “The Black Spur” into Melbourne, help set up for his 50th bash and then get merry!
Approx 200KMs total for the day.
Staying at The Dingley Hotel
Drink a bunch of water, pop some painkillers, greasy breakfast, pull a helmet on and head back to Canberra via the shortest route possible. If we’re in a bad way, I don’t mind leaving late and stopping half way, getting home Monday morning.
